Liebe Doktorand:innen,
heute möchten wir Ihnen einige Informationen zu den Meet-the-Expert Sessions geben, die dieses Jahr erstmals Teil des Rahmenprogramms beim Tag der Forschung am 24.11.2023 sein werden.
Bei diesem Format wollen wir Sie mit Junior und Senior Scientists zusammenbringen und Ihnen die Möglichkeit geben, sich mit Expert:innen in ungezwungener Atmosphäre auszutauschen. Fragen Sie die Wissenschaftler:innen nach Tipps für eine erfolgreiche Karriere im Wissenschaftsbetrieb, oder konkret zu deren jeweiligen Fachgebieten, oder vielleicht zu einer speziellen wissenschaftlichen Methode – den Fokus Ihrer Fragen können Sie selbst bestimmen!
Die erste Meet-the-Expert Session wird während der Mittagspause (zwischen 12:00 – 13:30 Uhr) stattfinden, die zweite während des Get-Togethers am Nachmittag (ab ca. 16:30 Uhr).
Für die Sessions werden wir im Lerncafé (LLZ) separate Stehtische bereitstellen. Wir haben die Expert:innen in 2er bzw. 3er Gruppen aufgeteilt (s.u.); pro Gruppe können 4 - 5 Doktorand:innen teilnehmen – sichern Sie sich also am besten noch heute Ihren Platz!

Um 13:30 Uhr wird Frau Dr. Barbara Marte, Senior Editor beim Fachmagazin Nature, über „Inside Nature – the black box and AI“ referieren und im anschließenden Podiumsgespräch mit Frau Dr. Iryna Dykun, Herrn Dr. Johannes Haubold und Frau Prof.in Dr. Katharina Lückerath das Thema KI in der Wissenschaft diskutieren. Wir möchten das Publikum aktiv in das Gespräch einbinden und Sie daher schon heute ermuntern, vorab Fragen einzureichen. Selbstverständlich können Sie auch während des Podiumsgespräch den Gästen Ihre Fragen direkt stellen.

Dear doctoral students,
Today, we would like to share some details regarding the meet-the-expert sessions that will take place as part of the Day of Research on 24.11.2023 for the first time.
The idea behind this format is to connect junior and senior scientists with doctoral students and thus create an opportunity for exchange in an informal setting. Ask the experts for tips for a successful career in academia, or questions regarding their respective field of expertise, or maybe you would like to know details on a specific scientific method – you can choose the focus of your questions yourselves!
The first meet-the-expert session will take place during the lunch break (12:00 pm – 1:30 pm), the second during the get-together in the afternoon (starting at around 4:30 pm). For the sessions, we will provide separate bar tables in the Lerncafé (LLZ). We will split the experts into groups of 2 or 3 (see below), and 4 - 5 doctoral students can participate per group – so register now to save your spot!

One more note regarding the afternoon program:
At 1:30 pm Dr. Barbara Marte, senior editor with Nature, will give a keynote lecture on „Inside Nature – the black box and AI“. Afterwards, she will discuss chances and challenges of AI in science with Dr. Iryna Dykun, Dr. Johannes Haubold and Prof. Dr. Katharina Lückerath during a panel talk. We would like to actively involve the audience into the discussion and thus encourage you to submit your questions in advance. Of course, it will also be possible to directly address the guests during the panel.
